Valerie Smith has been in the studio working on her next project and has also announced that "Yes..there is going to be Blame it on the Bluegrass, Vol. 2 coming out in 2014. Several people have asked and it is going to happen in the near future." The 2011 original release of Blame it on the Bluegrass saw a lot of chart action and was recorded at the International Bluegrass Music Museum.
Valerie Smith to remain in studio for a 2014 CD release. The project has 6 tracks recorded and producer, Mike Scott, is awaiting to finish Valerie's vocals and to include surprise artists and instrumentalists to join in on this project. The CD may be a 10 song release by the time they are finished.
Valeries tells us, "Songs have been carefully chosen during a long awaited release. I took some time away from the road to record a project with songs that I have believed in for a long time, as my quote is, 'I waited to record until the tunes fit well together and would tell a story that reflect my thoughts about what I have experienced in life'."
Music producer, Mike Scott, has been a big inspiration and he has kepted me focused on what I am trying to achieve. The CD has not yet been officially "titled" that will be announced when the entire recording has been finished. Some of the tunes are unexpected, familiar covers (recorded in a not-so-familiar-way) a few showcase originals that has been in Valerie's library for a long time.
Valerie says, "My biggest goal was to choose the strongest material for this musical journey. Warning to traditional bluegrass listeners, this will not be your everyday 'bluegrass' music project, which should not surprising to my past listeners. The sound is a representation of what is true of my style...my own thing!"
